History of the car
I bought the car in 1986 after previously running a Jaguar ser2. It had been a mining company directors car in South Yorkshire. Since that time it was run nearly on a daily basis with only the usual cosmetic surgery to the body every 2 or 3 years to keep up with the dreaded rot which seem to aspire to Daimlers of this age. The car had done 120,000 without any major repairs, and oil pressure still reasonable at about 45psi at 1000 rpm. I have driven a lot of different cars over the years and did love to get behind the wheel of this car.
1992 Daimler XJ40 4 litre auto bought at the end of May 2000.I ran it for 3 years and except for replacing the self levelling suspension for a more normal one it gave 20,000 miles of trouble free motoring.
1995 X300 Daimler Bought April 2003 and was suberb more in the style of the series 3 and ran it until 2012.I did 50,000 of trouble free motoring except for rear springs which seem to go at regular intervals when speed bumps appeared on the local roads. The council have a lot to answer for!

1999 X308 LWB 4 litre V8. This is a lovely example having done only 45k miles when bought in early 2012. Sold late 2015 :-(
