PROFILE
Tracy
Somerville is an accomplished wildlife and portrait artist, preferring
to paint in oils, acrylics and pastels. She can use almost any media to
great effect and her popular wildlife work concentrates on the animals
she knows and loves so well.
A keen conservationist, she has a
particular passion for British wildlife and for preservation of our native
woodland which is so vital for the survival of both. Now living in Herefordshire
she supports the Woodland Trust, whose work she sees as being particularly
relevant both locally and nation-wide.
Tracy has had her work accepted by the pastel society for exhibition
at the Mall Galleries in London. She is a member of The Wild Life Art
society and exhibits annually at their exhibition at the Westminster Gallery
also in London.
A finalist in the prestigious international
P.A.W.S. (Paint a
Wildlife Subject) competition since 1993. Tracy won the Joyce Chaffin
Memorial scroll in PAWS in 1996, the PAWS 'Best Oils' award in 1997 when
PAWS went international. The PAWS 'Best Acrylics' in 1998, and in 1999
won the 'Best Pastels' award with her painting 'Siberian Winter' which
went on to win the PAWS overall ChallengeTrophy as overall winner of the
competition.
Her work can always be seen at her
permanent exhibition at "The squirrels" in Pengethly Garden
centre near Ross-on-Wye
As well as an accomplished wildlife artist, Tracy is also a competent
portrait artist for both domestic animals and human subjects. Tracy is
